The music industry is totally fucked. There is no other way to put it. I don’t know who decides to put Joe Blow A&R; in place to find “talent” but they should totally go fuck themselves cause it would be a far better use of their time. Take for instance Esmeedenters, or as she now goes by: Esmee. She is what they called a YouTube “phenomenon” singing covers of Justin Timberlake, Alicia Keys and any other bullshit songs some jackass could cover. And what fucking happens? She gets a fucking record deal from Interscope Records. WITH NO FUCKING ORIGINAL MATERIAL!?!? She literally sits her fucking 18 year-old ass in her room, in front of her closet or dresser, puts the fucking CD on in the background and sings the goddamn track! What the fuck? Now that Interscope has her (with the all the money they say they don’t have since peer2peer file sharing is running rampent) what do they do? They recorded a couple of cluster-fuck songs that appear to be recorded on the tape recorder someone just dusted off from the basement of my grandma’s house! Lazy piano playing that is out of time with her singing? Check. This one primed for MySpace? Check. Lame. She has a great voice, no lie, but a record deal off covering other peoples work? I hope everyone of those artist who aren’t on Interscope sue the fucking bejesus out of Interscope for all the 6 million YouTube plays on each of her videos and get their fucking nickel a play from that label. What were they thinking? What if she can’t write a fucking song? What if she doesn’t know how to sing songs someone writes for her (see Avril Lavigne)? Can she play any instruments besides the skin flute she probably played at Interscope? I wish I could have bought her some knee pads so she could have learned to suck a dick proper before she went into that meeting, maybe should could have got and EVEN bigger signing bonus? This is why peoples bands who are legitimately good get fucked over like a French whore at a brothel. I can’t fucking believe this shit. It boggles my mind to the point where I get a headache! I mean fuck, she really has a good voice, there is no denying, but she has put NO time or effort into being a musician beyond doing covers of OTHER peoples songs. People have worked their whole lives, 60+ years and written incredible masterpieces that haven’t got half the attention this little fucking slut has already got. It’s a sad day in music that’s for damn sure.
